Dr. Ian Yu is a multiple award-winning podiatrist. He completed his Bachelor Sciences with Distinction from the University of Toronto in Nutritional Science and Sociology. He received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco with Honors. He has completed a Masters of Science in Medical Education. His thesis was completed at Orton Orthopedic Hospital in Helsinki Finland on Cartilage Resurfacing techniques in the Lower Extremity.
During his residency program at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC he completed over 5000 surgical procedures and trained under the author of the landmark book entitled, The Diabetic and Surgical Management of the Diabetic Foot,, Dr. Stephen Kominsky, in addition to the world-renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Chris Attinger. In 2012, Dr. Yu completed training at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona on peripheral nerve surgery.
Dr. Yu is Board Certified in Podiatric Surgery by the American College of Podiatric Surgery. He is Fellow of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is Member of the Canadian Podiatric Medical Association. He has served on the British Columbia Podiatric Medical Association as secretary and government-liaison. He is a member in-good-standing of the College of Podiatric Physician and Surgeons.
Dr. Yu has operative surgical privileges at Providence Health Care and runs the diabetic foot clinic at Mount Saint Joseph hospital. He has held appointments at Langley Memorial Hospital and the Ambulatory Care Surgical Center of Vancouver.
Dr. Yu’s clinical interests and passion include diabetic foot care, operative podiatry, and sports medicine. He has additional training in peripheral nerve surgery and flat foot reconstruction. He enjoys practicing podiatric medicine and surgery and is passionate about helping people improve their lifestyle and health.
Dr. Yu grew in a medical family and is son to an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. William Yu, and radiologist, Dr. Connie Siu. HIs practices with his wife, Dr. Heather Bui.
Dr. Yu enjoys trying to keep up with his three active sons. When not working, Dr. Yu is an avid tennis player and Men’s A Champion at his tennis club, marathoner, triathlete, and kayaker. He is active in charity work.
Dr. Bui is a multi-award winning podiatrists. Dr. Bui speaks Vietnamese and is the only Vietnamese speaking podiatrist in the community. She is great with kids (has 3 of her own) as well as with the elderly. Heather Bui has a special interest in general podiatric foot care, pediatrics, and sports medicine. She is fluent in English and Vietnamese and her favorite pass-time is yoga!
Dr. Bui graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Texas, West Texas A&M. She earned a scholarship from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, California and earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. She completed two years of post-graduate training at the San Francisco General Hospital and at the Premier Surgical Center in Washington, DC.
